 |  Ba Sing Se is the titanic capital of the Earth Kingdom, wherein it encompasses nearly all of the northeastern corner. It was the last great Earth Kingdom stronghold after the fall of Omashu.
The city is by far the largest city in the world, essentially being more of a small country than a mere city. Ba Sing Se means "Impenetrable City"; the city is so named for its world-famous walls, the gates of which have no hinges or other hardware, and are opened by use of Earthbending. Behind the Outer Wall lies a large expanse of farmland, Lake Laogai, and several mountains. The Inner Wall encloses the city itself. The city is also notable for having a unique system of dividing the populace into different parts of the city based on social status.
Ba Sing Se was the safest place for war refugees because of the Fire Nation's failure to penetrate its walls; however, it was later captured by the Fire Nation. In one of the final battles of The War, Ba Sing Se was liberated by the Order of the White Lotus in the Liberation of Ba Sing Se.

|  Chin Village was named after Chin the Conqueror, a warlord and tyrant who was killed by Avatar Kyoshi when he threatened her peninsula. Along the coast of Chin Village are large cliffs, a reminder of how, hundreds of years ago, Avatar Kyoshi separated her village from the mainland.
The village was presumably founded by the supporters of the deceased warlord. Remembering him as Chin the Great, a great and loved ruler rather than a warlord. The people of Chin village until recently, honored their fallen leader by celebrating what they call "Avatar Day". A day that celebrated their hatred for the Avatar.
Chin Village is an unusual place with unusual laws and traditions. Team Avatar seems to agree that this is the worst village they have ever traveled to.

|  The Foggy Swamp, or simply The Swamp, is a vast, mysterious wetland covering a large portion of the southwestern Earth Kingdom. The swamp is very densely packed with a great variety of creatures, including the Glow Fly, the Elbow Leech and the Catgator.
The local population consists of a tribe of Waterbenders, who migrated to the swamp from the South Pole. The tribe seems to be somewhat backwards but maintains a strong relationship with nature. They navigate the dense undergrowth with skiffs, whence they hunt and fish.
At the center of the swamp stands an enormous, ancient Banyan-Grove Tree whose roots spread out over miles. The rest of the swamp grew by extending from the foundations of this tree, over time developing into one large super organism. The Foggy Swamp Tribe bases its philosophy on this phenomenon; they say that, like the tree, all people of the world no matter how different, retain the same roots and are branches of the same tree.
The swamp contains deep spiritual qualities as well; enigmatic weather patterns and induced visions of the past, present and future are commonplace within the swamp. One particular Waterbender named Huu was able to reach enlightenment under the Banyan-Grove Tree at the very heart of the swamp, and using his abilities, fiercely protects the swamp from any who wish to harm the place by using a giant swamp monster made up of vines controlled through Plantbending, a special technique developed from conventional Waterbending forms.

|  Full Moon Bay is a secluded cove in the Eastern Lake, located just south of Ba Sing Se. It is the location of a hidden ferry station that refugees from all over the southern portion of the Earth Kingdom come to on their way to Ba Sing Se. Aang and company almost crossed the bay this way in "The Serpent's Pass", but decided instead to use the Serpent's Pass when a party they were traveling with was not allowed to use the ferry. Zuko and Iroh used the ferry to cross the bay in the same episode. Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors are members of the security staff of the ferry station.
It is not known what became of the ferry station after Ba Sing Se came under Fire Nation control, as it was no longer safe for refugees. After the war ended and Ba Sing Se was liberated, it is likely that the ferry dock is no longer used for refugees but rather normal transportation between the city and the mainland.

|  Gaoling is a large town located within a mountain range in the southern Earth Kingdom.
Gaoling is home to both the wealthy Bei Fong family and Earth Rumble VI. An old, well-established city, Gaoling has a spectrum of people residing in it, ranging from the very rich to the very poor.
The town has been untouched by the war, due to it not being in a particularly strategic location. This is evidenced by the attitude of many of its residents.

|  The Great Divide is the largest canyon in the world. It is located in the rocky regions of the central Earth Kingdom.

|  The River Village is located in the Western Earth Kingdom, and situated between the forks of a large river. It serves as a regional trading hub and ideal location for merchants to sell their wares.

|  Kyoshi Island is a small island off the southern coast of the Earth Kingdom, dotted with many small villages. It is famous as the birthplace of Avatar Kyoshi. The island is the home of the female elite Kyoshi Warriors.
The island was created when Chin the Conqueror threatened it. Avatar Kyoshi separated Kyoshi Peninsula from the Earth Kingdom mainland to keep her people safe from future threats.
The island is characterized by its seclusion and temperate climate.

|  Lake Laogai is a small body of water located within the Outer Wall of Ba Sing Se. It is insinuated by Joo Dee that Lake Laogai is a vacation spot in the Agrarian Zone. Lake Laogai also plays disguise for a sinister compound - a base of operations for the Dai Li deep underneath the lake bed.

|  Makapu Village is a small farming village located in the northwestern Earth Kingdom on the slopes of the dormant Mt. Makapu. It is notable for being the place of residence of the fortuneteller Aunt Wu.

|  Omashu is the second largest city in the Earth Kingdom and the capital of one of its provinces. Only Ba Sing Se, the titanic capital of the Earth Kingdom, is larger. It was one of the last great strongholds of the Earth Kingdom and a supplier of men and weaponry before its fall in the months before the end of the war. The city was also very well known for its famous delivery system powered by Earthbending and gravity.
Omashu is located in the Kolau Mountain Range in the southwestern Earth Kingdom. The city is built on a number of hills, and is surrounded by a wide gorge. Omashu is heavily fortified.
Previously ruled by King Bumi, Omashu was taken over by the Fire Nation and renamed New Ozai. During the Day of Black Sun, King Bumi single handedly liberated Omashu and all the powerless Firebenders escaped the city.

|  The Plains Village is located in the arid grasslands of the southern Earth Kingdom, to the west of the Si Wong Desert. It is not the most ideal place to live in and is home to several suspicious characters, including Gow, who, along with his gang of thugs, pass off as Earth Kingdom soldiers in order to force the citizens to yield to their will. They often forcefully enlist unwilling citizens into the Earth Kingdom Army and steal from those they consider weak. The town is often forced to live in fear of this band. The citizens of the village seem to harbor a severe hatred for the Fire Nation, and several of its citizens are currently fighting in the War.
The Lee Family Pig Farm is located outside of this village, and is where a young boy named Lee lives with his parents.

|  The Serpent's Pass is a narrow strip of land between two large lakes that links the western and eastern halves of the Earth Kingdom, and is one of the very few direct paths to the capital, Ba Sing Se. It is named after the serpent which guards it, which makes the pass feared in the Earth Kingdom. Most refugees refuse to use the pass and instead cross the lake by boat.

|  The Si Wong Desert is the largest desert in the world of Avatar. It is known as the driest and hottest place in the world, and is almost impossible to successfully navigate. It is sparsely inhabited by Sandbender tribes.

|  Senlin Village is a small farming village located in the center of a dense forest in the western Earth Kingdom. It was recently attacked by a spirit, Hei Bai.

|  Wan Shi Tong's Library was an immense library buried within the Si Wong Desert.

|  Wulong Forest is a forest that lies on the coast of the western regions of the Earth Kingdom. It is notable for the hundreds of rock columns that tower over the landscape.
Wulong Forest was the site of the Battle at Wulong Forest. Much of the forest was burned and destroyed by Ozai and his Firebenders during the first wave of their attacks on the Earth Kingdom. Despite the ferocity of Ozai's attack, Aang and his friends defeated him and his army, and Aang used the Avatar State to extinguish the massive forest fire with Waterbending, thus saving the remainder of the forest.
